Deep in daily meditation harnessing in on inner intuition

Information Vs. Intuition

People are Hungry for Information

Deep in daily meditation harnessing in on inner intuitionThere’s no doubt about it..

We currently exist in the age of information. Pretty much anything we want to research or find out about is only a quick google search away.

It’s so amazing to have access to all that information at our fingertips. Right? Let’s take a closer look.

Is that easy access having a detrimental effect on the essence of who we are?

Are we as individuals therefore collectively getting too reliant on information, and therefore dishonouring the part of ourselves that needs more love, acknowledgment and attention? Our Intuition!

Why Do I Ask the Question?

Why am I even asking the question or making a comparison between information and intuition?

It’s been growing inside me for some time. As I have slowly started to notice more and more people from all walks of life and in different fields of expertise continuing to fall back on the belief: “it should be done this way because of this study, or this research, or this lineage, or this tradition or this is how it has been done in the past”.

I am far from exempt from this. In fact, to the contrary, this behaviour has only become more evident to me as I grow more comfortable with who I am and how I experience/apply my day to day life. The more I learn to tap into my intuition, listen and make decisions from the natural knowing part of myself the more I realise just how much I have ignored this internal process.

The conventional way forward is to look outside ourselves and follow the information that we hear loudest at any one time. Relating to any area of our lives, family, relationships, profession, diet, abundance, our home, spirituality.

It’s so easy to get swayed but outside opinion or even our old pattern of application rather than honouring what we truly feel in the moment. Allowing ourselves to be creative to see a new perspective, receive a new relationship (with people or things) instead of falling back on information that we’ve unconsciously processed in the past.

The Light Bulb Moment

This subject and awareness has been slowly showing itself to me which is true. However, there was a defining moment where it became super obvious to me that I had to start paying far more attention to where I was going through the motions and not profoundly listening to my intuition (and believe me this is still very much a work in progress). This moment was during a simple meditation practice – The Name Meditation

The Name Meditation – The Simple Ideas Around Meditation Practice

Meditation is the simple practice of sitting quietly and repeating your full birth name over and over.
It was passed on to me by a very powerful Balinese healer, Ketut Jaya who has helped me unmeasurably on my journey back to myself.
The premise of the meditation is to actively bring you back into alignment of the exact moment you entered the world with the birth name you were given.
Meditation carries with it your true calling and purpose in this lifetime. It might be going off on a slight tangent in one way.
In another, it feels important to share my experience and also an opportunity to offer forward a super simple practice for others to become more in alignment with their intuition.

Is There a Right or Wrong Way to Practice Meditation?

There is no right or wrong way to practice this meditation.

Here are the fundamentals:

  1. All you have to do is find a comfortable position for you with your eyes closed. If you already have an ongoing relationship with meditation, it might well be sitting crossed legged without support or against a wall or completely relaxed lying down.
  2. It does not matter your position. As long as you give yourself the best opportunity to be present with yourself and chant your name over and over.
  3. Reciting inside your head is fine or out loud if you have space and feel comfortable to do so.
  4. There is no time limit, just as long as you feel connected with the process of your name. I have done this lying down for 5min up to sitting for 1.5 hours).

What Works Best For Me?

For me, it works best to chant my full name in alignment with my breath. “Daniel James Young” every inhale and the same on every exhale. Sometimes it flows beautifully other times my thoughts get in the way, and it doesn’t.

Practice Meditation Often

Practice it often. Another beautiful thing about this meditation is it does not discriminate, social status, economic background, religion etc.

The practice of meditation was not born buy anyone cultural source or style. Furthermore, Ketut Jaya doesn’t claim to own it or label it as his own (nor do i).

Meditation is just a simple technique to shift away from the noise we all have and tune in to what is truly important for you which makes it different for everyone.

Practice it Often to See What You Receive From It

I can only share what I have received from this practice which varies significantly from “wow my mind is super active and today I’m unable even to be present with chanting my name” to the profound experience ill share with you now below.

The Profound Moment

The name meditation is something I practice often and most of the time it just provides me with feeling more grounded and offers me a clearer picture of:

  • How active my mind is
  • How I feel emotionally
  • How I feel energetically
  • How I feel physically

Cultivating the intuition to be more in touch with these things for me has been a slow and gradual process.

Naturally, I am a very linear thinker, very pragmatic and analytical. In short, information is essential to me. I want to know all the facts, the reasons why, process things and make informed decisions based on all the information.

So what I’m about to share is confronting for me to do so as it comes from a place I’m yet to understand and in a way kind of goes against the idea of who I am or at least who I believe myself to be.

Around nine months ago I was practising the name meditation, and on this particular morning, my name shifted into something else which has only happened once in the last few years.

I was inhaling and exhaling my name as per usual, and somehow it shifted into “You and humanity need to shift away from science-based information”.

This just unfolded for me..

The only way I can explain it in words is like when you see neon advertising banners at the traffic lights or a plane passing by with a promotional banner displaying those words. It appeared across my eye line even though my eyes were closed which we can refer to it as the third eye.

Over and over even though I was still trying to chant my name, I observed this for some time until I finished. Time became irrelevant, but I guessed it was around 45min-1 hour.

What Message Did I Get Out of This?

The message was clear and straightforward for me, and it also carried a feeling of where I needed to shift myself. It is tough to put into words and describe but the essence of what it brought with it was so strong, and I felt it (and continue to feel it) to this day.

One thing that is easy to share is the order of the message starting with the word: YOU.

It is me who needs to shift.
It’s me who needs to intuit more
It’s me who needs to feel rather than think.
And it’s me who needs to trust and let it unfold rather than gathering all the information. Only then will that add to the collective heading in this direction.

If I allow this to become a reality within me, there is no way ill even have the capacity to be aware of it in another or the whole for that matter.

Truly shifting me is the only way I can serve my inside and the collective outside.

A Disclaimer for For The Curious Ones

Just so we are clear. I’m not saying we need to shut down to information all together. There is a ridiculous amount of the most valuable information that we currently have access to in every field and warp of life which will only increase as time goes on.

Be intuitive about the moments to tap into the helpful information that serves us best in any given moment. Check in first to find the answers to our problems and misalignments before we tap out and look for it elsewhere.

It’s about being even more responsible for what we feel and how we action rather than just leaning back on the information we’ve heard/read/learned or noticed another experience.

So How Does This Relate? Allow me to Demonstrate

A comfortable place to start to notice where we might be leaning on information instead of tapping into our intuition is diet.

There is so much information out there regarding what we should put in our bodies and what is considered to be healthy or unhealthy. Without over complicating things and looking into specific diets or labels lets use eggs as an example.

Now are Eggs Good or you or not?

All you have to do is google: are eggs good for you? And you can find articles saying eggs are a superfood to articles saying eggs are worse for you than cigarettes.

Now, What’s the Reality for you?

Are eggs a part of your diet or not? Is your answer a result of truly knowing their value to your system or have you just included or excluded them because of information you have read.

Have you intuitively felt the exact amount of eggs needed or not needed in your weekly intake to function at your highest level?

Have you ever even contemplated checking in with your inner knowing to ask how important eggs are for you, what they bring to your body, how often should you have them (or not)?

This process can, of course, be applied to everything you eat as you begin to leave the information aside and tune in to what works to nourish you. After all, we are all individuals and not made up the same. Therefore we need to stay in tune with what truly offers us the most health.

How do you know if you’ve never even checked in and you’re just relying on information outside of yourself?

What If?

Questioning how and why you do things in literally every area of your life in the same way as above can be a super eye-opening experience.

Challenge the way you create wealth, the way you are in relationships with others, the hobbies you put time into, how you apply your everyday.

Is it all a result of learned behaviour, passed on information? Or are you continually tapping into a higher part of yourself to lead every decision you make?

Are you intuitively approaching every moment to receive your life experience in the most beautiful way?

If we collectively stay governed by the safety of how it has been done before or “that’s just the way it is” we don’t allow the space for change to take place.

If we stick to information alone, there is no place for intuition to be cultivated.

What if every morning you wake up and begin to put everything you’ve learned or known before aside to align with your best version of yourself. How can you be better aligned with your intuition?

Imagine being so self knowledgable that you were your Doctor, Chiro, Physio, Nutritionist etc. I suppose to do this you might need to gather a wealth of information right? Wheres the first place you’re going to look?
